Hellhand VFX


I had some downtime recently and took a few hours to create an RPG-style effect that I’d love to see in a game.

The Hellhand attack effect is comprised of a skeleton hand model I created, rigged and animated in Maya 2019 and exported to Unity 2018. In unity and Photoshop I created the subsequent particle VFX and using Amplify shader editor, I created a flowmap based lava material for the pool, a dissolving terrain shader and the animated glowing / fresnel bone material shader for the hand. All in all this took me about 4 hours to complete from start to finish.


Modeling, texturing, lighting, particle VFX, rigging, animation, shader development and surfacing.
